New web startup scheduled to launch shortly in New York city, focused on amassing significant amounts and types of data for benefit to various communities, including the academic, scientific and medical communities. The company is led by a successful startup CEO and is seeking an intern with considerable experience in academic research, including polling and surveys, for scientific and/or medical purposes. The company is one that seeks not just commercial success, but to provide a platform for learning and discovery online.
This position will not be trivial – it will not revolve around getting coffee. This will be an immersive role, placing someone in charge of developing relationships in the scientific and medical communities and introducing the project to academic and other scientific institutions and/or individuals. The role will involve overseeing the website/product to some degree and ensuring that it meets the needs to become a useful and potentially groundbreaking new tool for these communities - something that could lead to improved research and discovery about humanity. It will involve collecting and responding to feedback from these communities, and it may involve certain marketing and communications activities through blogs and other social media.
The candidate may be in a senior year of college or a recent graduate. They will be experienced in research methodology and well versed in social media and the web. They will be a very strong communicator, and able to demonstrate success, positivity, and a self-starter attitude in their academic and/or professional career to date. Responsibilities and Requirements:
* Web savvy, up to date on emerging trends online
*Strong communications skills
* Knowledgeable in scientific and/or medical research methodologies, institutions, communities
* Must be highly organized, self-motivated and able to work with minimal oversight
* Superb problem-solving skills execution skills and attention to detail
* Great work ethic, team-player, can-do personality
* Some quantitative marketing background would be nice to have but not essential
* Knowledge of polling, surveys, statistics
Applicants must be enrolled in or graduated from an accredited university and be available to work virtually with weekly meetings in NYC. This may be a paid internship; school credit may be available. Please submit cover letter, resume and time availability in order to be considered. We ask that the individuals spend minimum 16-20 hours per week and at least 3 months. Excellent candidates may be offered full time employment.
